Richard Hazard letters and financial documents, 1822-1844.

Four holograph letters signed by Dr. Richard Hazard between October 1836 and March 1837, to his sister, Mary Hoffmaster Adderly, and his father, Patrick Hazard, describing travel from his home in Philadelphia to Norfolk, Virginia, his subsequent voyages to New Orleans and to Matagorda, Texas, and his activities as a physician with the Texas Army. In a letter dated November 1, 1836, John Herrington of Norfolk, Virginia, informs Patrick Hazard of his son's departure from Norfolk to New Orleans. Richard Hazard's letter of September 30, 1844, written from an unidentified location to his sister contains his request that she obtain a copy of his certificate of naturalization. Financial records include documents relating to debts owed by Richard Hazard to his sister, and a record of a transaction between Patrick Hazard and his daughter Mary.
